10 Tips to Get Rid of House Lizards at Home Permanently without Touching and Killing Them

August 24, 2018 | House Lizards

When you see house lizards crawling around your home, your first instinct may be to want to kill them. These reptiles may be small, but they can be scary looking if you are not familiar with them. A lot of people may try to pick the lizards up with their hands and just toss them out the front door. This might be effective if you only have one or two lizards crawling around your home, but it won’t be effective if you’re infested with them. Are you going to manually pick up each lizard if you have dozens of them in your home? A lot of the time, it is hard to even grab them because they’re so fast. Therefore, you will need to think of another way to get them out.

The Top 10 Ways

Since house lizards are not harmful to humans, you might feel that it is not right to kill them. Either that or you may not want to spend the money on a pest control technician to kill them for you. In this case, all you can do is use some “home remedies” to get rid of the house lizards permanently. These natural pest control remedies won’t require you to touch or kill any of these lizards either. They are simple enough for anyone to use in their home.

Below are the top 10 ways to get rid of house lizards at home permanently without touching or killing them.

1) Coffee & Tobacco Balls

If you want to get house lizards to leave your home, mix some coffee powder and tobacco together. Create balls out of them which you can pick up with your hands. Put these balls in the most vulnerable areas of your home where lizards like to go. After trying to eat the balls, they will want to leave right away.

2) Egg Shells

House lizards do not want to inhabit an area where other organisms are nesting. If you leave egg shells near your air vents, windowsills, doors, and walls with cracks in them, the aroma of the egg shells will deter lizards from wanting to enter your home.

3) Pepper Spray

There are many uses for pepper spray besides spraying an attacker in the eyes. Lizards do not like pepper spray and it will make them want to leave quickly if they’re sprayed with it. You can also spray it around your home in areas where they like to nest. Spray under the stove, in the basement, and in all corners and cracks of your home.

4) Garlic

Lizards are like vampires when it comes to garlic. Just the very aroma of garlic makes house lizards want to run away fast. If you were to place a few garlic cloves in those vulnerable areas of your home, no lizards will want to enter. Also, you can use garlic juice instead of garlic cloves if you want to make it easier.

5) Flypaper

Flypaper is sticky and if a lizard walks onto it, they will be trapped just like a fly would. Once you catch them, take the paper outside and let the lizards loose.

6) Onions

Lizards do not like foul odors. Onions are comprised of Sulphur which is why they stink so much. Place a few onions around your home and you’ll keep those lizards out for good.

7) Tabasco

Tabasco sauce has a strong smell just like pepper spray. If you mix water and Tabasco sauce together in a spray bottle, you can spray the solution around your home to keep out lizards.

8) Cardboard Box Trap

Use a cardboard box to trap the house lizards. You could place a few bugs in the box to lure them in and then close the box afterward. Then take the box outside and release the lizards.

9) Cold Water

Lizards do not like cold water. That is why they only exist in tropical climates. If you spray cold water onto house lizards, they will remain immobilized for a short while. Then you can scoop them up and toss them outside.
